Я довольно-таки неплохо владею английским на профессиональном уровне, если нужна моя помощь в любой области языка - обращайтесь))

Суть вопроса не в этом.
Специализированный курс английского. Спортивная терминология, компьютерная терминология.
Особенности преподавания взрослым - 37 и 49 лет.
Я даю частные уроки, но у меня были только дети, либо помладше, до 20 лет..

Это снова я. Пишу песню на английском, вот, хотелось бы, чтобы вы проверили правильность перевода..
и к тому же несколько словосочетаний, не могу найти в словарях:
1.Мир сошелся клином
2.Слышать запах (или тут будет - чувствовать - feel?
3.Потерять голову (имеется ввиду от любви)
4.Чувствовать человека (в смысле, чувствовать его на расстоянии... ну я думаю, понятно, о чем я)

5 января на королевском заводе ракетно-космической корпорации &quot;Энергия&quot; лопнула цистерна, в которой хранилось 540 тонн мазута для местной котельной на случай перебоев с горючим. Запас вылился в канализацию. Об инциденте стало известно благодаря Интернету - виновник ЧП об аварии несколько дней не сообщал. О разливе мазута в своем блоге в &quot;Живом Журнале&quot; рассказала Виктория, 19-летняя жительница Королева.
-Наш дом в 5 метрах от ручья, я каждый день мимо хожу. Когда увидела его 6 января - ужаснулась. Вода черная, а там, где пленка потоньше, - радуга и утки мертвые. Обидно, у меня под окнами настоящая катастрофа, а никто ни слова не говорит.
После публикации в Викином ЖЖ фотографий ручья с плотной мазутной пленкой и мертвыми птицами на берегу замалчивать проблему стало бессмысленно. Изначально власти сообщили, что в реку попало 1,5 тонн мазута. Позднее в МЧС назвали другую цифру - 300 тонн.
По словам Представителей МЧС, ликвидация аварии почти завершена: собрали около 300 тонн чистого и 1400 тонн оводненного мазута. Горючее отвозят для утилизации на полигон ОАО &quot;Экопас&quot; в Рязанскую область. Однако экологи не разделяют оптимизма властей. &quot;Эти заявления сомнительны, тем более что и цифры о количестве вылитого мазута называют разные&quot;, - говорит Алексей Книжников, представитель Всемирного фонда дикой природы.
Его поддерживает житель Королева Андрей Оржановский, сотрудник группы &quot;экозащита&quot;
-Большинство спасателей для журналистов поставлены. Реальная работа ведется на двух-трех участках.
Недостаточно быстрый темп ликвидации последствий может привести к катастрофе на Клязьме. Оржановский утверждает, что видел масляные пятна там, где ручей впадает в реку. Боновые заграждения проникновению мазута, по мнению эколога, не мешают, лишь задерживают его на несколько часов. Но в пресс-службе МЧС уверяют, что угрозы загрязнения Клязьмы нет – это якобы доказывает анализ воды из устья ручья.
-Есть и другая проблема. Часть мазута проникла в Щелковские очистные сооружения, в результате два иностранных очистных аппарата забились и вышли из строя. Сейчас там работают уцелевшие отечественные.
-В тоже время город не перестал жить, постоянно поступают канализационные стоки. Не исключено, что резервуары просто переполнятся и не останется ничего другого, как просто открыть из и вылить воду в ту же Клязьму, - рисует мрачные перспективы специалист «Экозащиты».
Самое страшное даже не в самом факте аварии, а в том, что ее пытались замолчать. Завод «Энергия», кстати, до сих пор отказывается комментировать ситуацию.
Аналогичное ЧП произошло на Амгинской нефтебазе ОАО «Саханефтегазсбыт» в Якутии. Однако там танкерный парк был окружен бетонной обваловкой. Поэтому все 400 тонн разлившейся нефти остались на территории базы и были собраны за несколько дней.
-Если бы в Королеве соблюдали технологию хранения, мазут не попал бы в канализацию и реку, - заключает Андрей Оржановский.
«Несмотря на заверения властей о том, что экологической проблемы не существует, авария в Королеву вполне может сравниться с разливом мазута в Керченском проливе. По оценкам МЧС оба происшествия относятся к одному уровню опасности – региональной катастрофе, следующий – уже национальное бедствие», - подытожил Алексей Книжников.
После сбора мазута МЧС планирует рекультивировать берег и дно ручья. Во Всемирном фонде природы говорят, что если работа будет проведена должным образом, экосистема ручья восстановится через 2-3 года.

Charles Darwin

[English Language]

Charles Robert Darwin was born on February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. He was the fifth child and second son of Robert Waring Darwin and Susannah Wedgwood. Darwin was the British naturalist who became famous for his theories of evolution and natural selection. Like several scientists before him, Darwin believed all the life on earth evolved (developed gradually) over millions of years from a few common ancestors.

From 1831 to 1836 Darwin served as naturalist aboard the H.M.S. Beagle on a British science expedition around the world. In South America Darwin found fossils of extinct animals that were similar to modern species. On the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean he noticed many variations among plants and animals of the same general type as those in South America. The expedition visited places around the world, and Darwin studied plants and animals everywhere he went, collecting specimens for further study.

Upon his return to London Darwin conducted thorough research of his notes and specimens. Out of this study grew several related theories: one, evolution did occur; two, evolutionary change was gradual, requiring thousands to millions of years; three, the primary mechanism for evolution was a process called natural selection; and four, the millions of species alive today arose from a single original life form through a branching process called "specialization."

Darwin's theory of evolutionary selection holds that variation within species occurs randomly and that the survival or extinction of each organism is determined by that organism's ability to adapt to its environment. He set these theories forth in his book called, "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life" (1859) or "The Origin of Species" for short. After publication of Origin of Species, Darwin continued to write on botany, geology, and zoology until his death in 1882. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.

Darwin's work had a tremendous impact on religious thought. Many people strongly opposed the idea of evolution because it conflicted with their religious convictions. Darwin avoided talking about the theological and sociological aspects of his work, but other writers used his theories to support their own theories about society. Darwin was a reserved, thorough, hard working scholar who concerned himself with the feelings and emotions not only of his family, but friends and peers as well.

It has been supposed that Darwin renounced evolution on his deathbed. Shortly after his death, temperance campaigner and evangelist Lady Elizabeth Hope claimed she visited Darwin at his deathbed, and witnessed the renunciation. Her story was printed in a Boston newspaper and subsequently spread. Lady Hope's story was refuted by Darwin's daughter Henrietta who stated, "I was present at his deathbed ... He never recanted any of his scientific views, either then or earlier."

Business-english: do you need a secretary?

In most companies a secretary is hired strictly for business. If you have so little work for her that she has time to manage your (or her own) personal affairs, you don't need a secretary.

If you ask her to do something which is beyond the scope of her regular office work, realize that you ask a favour. However, this puts your relationship on a more personal basis...

Drawing room manners are out of place in an office, and you are not expected to jump to your feet and hold a chair for your secretary every time she comes into your office. But take care not to treat her as if she were nobody.

You should say a pleasant "Good morning!" when you come in and "please" and "thank you" at every opportunity; don't expect her to carry in the chairs for your meeting; show a little interest in her health and mood.
